On tonight's menu at our house: Chicken Patties & French Fries!
For two years I was a "lunch lady" at our local high school! Or, as I liked to call it: a "food service engineer"! LOL! Lunch lady sounds sooo... oh, I don't know...lowly! Lunch ladies get no respect! A food service engineer on the other hand... well, now that sounds like nobody's business! In our school, chicken patty day was like no other. Word spreads like wildfire that it's "chicken patty day"! We served regular or spicy patties... some kids got triple lunches on those days. What is it about the minced, pressed, processed patties of poultry that made these kids so excited? And by kids, I'm talking 15, 16, 17 year-olds acting like they're 5!
I can't remember getting so pumped-up about a school lunch that I would actually walk around with that day's fare on my chest... (yeah, these guys have t-shirts that say "today is chicken patty day"!)
So, anyway... tonight at my house, it's "chicken patty day". Husband is working late, my two kids are lazing around, not wanting to have to face another Monday, and I'm not in the mood for dishes! That's right - PAPER PLATES folks! If God didn't want me to use them, He wouldn't have invented 'em! After dinner, it's on to showers, etc... a typical Sunday night - getting ready for the week ahead.
What was on the menu at your house tonight? Do you have big Sunday family dinners, or do you play it low-key?
