Well, yesterday I was without internet and phone for the entire day! I was going nuts! Not just because I couldn't blog, or stay on top of my fave blogs; but because I'm getting tired of not having the service that I am paying for on a regular basis! Don't get me wrong - last week when we had a monster storm and were buried underneath 3 ft. of snow, I was not the least bit surprised that we lost service.
Yesterday on the other hand, it was sunny and almost 55 degrees! This is not the first time that this has happened. As a matter of fact, it's not even the 10th time this has happened. It happens so often, I'm on a first name basis with the Optimum techs!! I'm annoyed and frustrated, and my son keeps saying "why don't we just switch companies?" But ya know what? It is such a pain in the you-know-what to switch companies... I don't have the time or patience!
But anyway... I'm a little behind today because of my loss of service and all the complaining I've been doing (I know: put up or shut up!). So that's my Sunday Evening Dinner Chat for this week. FAIL!

Finally, I would like to announce that I have finished The Luxe! 
I actually finished it a couple of days ago, and it was going to be part of my Sunday post, but... well, we all know what happened there! 
Okay, so The Luxe
.... I have 3 words: Oh. My. God. I LOVED this book. Anna Godbersen
is amazing. Scandal. Deceit. Love. Lust. It's all in there. The pages turned like liquid in my hands. And thank goodness I had the second installment, Rumors
waiting right there for me to start as soon as The Luxe was done. It continues right where the first novel left off.
I've already stated how much I love this setting: turn-of-the-century New York City. Something about it just makes me happy, and I get totally lost in the scene. But this series offers something that many others set in the same era don't - and that is the scandal. So many historicals of this time period show the genteel side of high society. Ms. Godbersen gives us the underbelly, if you will. I love it! You don't normally think of backstabbing when you imagine "ladies" of that day, but backstabbing they are! And it is de-lish!
I am almost halfway through Rumors and I'm loving it just as much as The Luxe. After Rumors comes Envy
and then Splendor, and you can bet that I will be reading this whole series from start to finish without picking up something in between. I'm totally addicted.

I guess it's obvious how I feel about these books, so I don't feel I need to do a complete "review". You understand. What I would like to say.... and I hope Ms. Godbersen or some important TV people are listening: PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE make this into a mini-series, if not a full season show. The costumes alone would be worth their weight in gold. And that's all I've got to say about that.
With any luck, my internet will stay connected so I will be able to stay connected. It's what makes me happy.
Now, I'm off to go walking around the pond with my iPod... that also makes me happy!
