Halfway Through Envy by Anna Godbersen

Envy: A Luxe Novel (The Luxe)
I am a little more than halfway through Envy by Anna Godbersen.  I was hoping to have it done by now, but I haven't been feeling well, so I'm a little behind in my reading.

Well, let me tell you... this series just keeps getting better and better!  I love it.  You know I do!  So of course I'm thinking that as soon as I'm done with it, I will make a seamless transition right over to Splendor, the last (!) book in the series. (how can it be the last book???  This should go on and on and on and on...... )  But, alas.... I do not have Splendor.  First off, I do not have the moula to buy Splendor.  Secondly, I really don't want to buy the hardcover.  I'm liking the trade size.  So I guess I'll have to wait until it comes out in softcover trade?  Boo-hoo!  I'm crying!  Damn recession! :(

I have Ship of Dreams by Martina Devlin waiting in the wings.  But, I just posted about it being a "stinky book".  ***see previous post***, so now I don't know if I want to start it yet.  Maybe it can "air out" for awhile before I read it.

Next I think I'll start Not A Girl Detective by Susan Kandel.
Not a Girl Detective (Cece Caruso Mysteries)It's been on my TBR shelf for a while.
This is the part I hate about finishing a book!!  I never know what to read next!  I want to read all of them at the same time!  I'm such a dork!  I can't get to them fast enough!!

Oh, woe is me to be such a BOOK NERD!!  We all have a cross to bear.

Books That Stink... No, Really - They Smell

So... today I received a book in the mail.  I was excited to get it.  I've been wanting to read it.  Couldn't wait to open it.

Now for the stinky part... my son ripped open the packaging and went "Pew!!!".  I was like "whattsa matter?", so he held the book up to my face, and I went, "Pew!!".
It smelled so badly of cigarette smoke! (Obviously I'm not a smoker.)

I am so disappointed!  I ordered it on eBay, and actually... they sent me the wrong book first!  But the people made good and sent me the correct one, obviously, which I got today.  But it is so stinky!  And I don't want to send it back because it came all the way from the U.K.!  I can't be bothered.

I'm wondering if this has ever happened to anyone else out there?  There has to be some people who've bought used books online, but when they arrived, the book was smelly.
How do you get the stinkiness out of a stinky book?  Especially cigarette smoke?

My question is getting the stink out.  Not "should I send it back", not "should I ask for a refund".... just "how do I get the stinkiness out?"  Or is it hopeless?  I left it outside on my deck all afternoon thinking (hoping) maybe the fresh air would help, but to no avail.
I kinda don't wanna read it now!  Blah!  :(

Semi-Wordless Wednesday.... Hump-Day Hodge Podge

A Happy St. Patrick's Day to all!

I've been a little under the weather, so the reading is a little slow going this week. :(
So, since I don't have too many book-ish type things to share, I thought I'd share a couple of photos.

This first one is a photo of my great-grandma's and then my grandma's wedding shoes!  Aren't they amazing?  They could almost be like the ones I posted with Amy Lowell's Patterns!  I took the picture of them last Saturday when I went to visit my grandma.  Take a gander

Next, I would like to share a photo of my new mug!!  I was very excited when I found this in TJMaxx!  I just thought it was beautiful and would help to usher in the springtime season!  I've been looking for a new mug for a while now, but nothing seems to strike my fancy!  As soon as I saw this, I knew it was the one I've been searching for!  I love having a special mug that only I'm allowed to use!  (and frankly, with this one covered in flowers, I don't think my boys or my husband are going to be reaching for it any time soon!).  Do you have a special mug that is reserved only for your use?

Finally, I would like to say that I am absolutely ecstatic because yesterday I saw my tulips poking through the dirt!  YA-HOO!  It  made me soooo happy to see that.  It's been a long winter here in New York - almost all of the snow is finally gone, and it is in the 60's (!) this week!  (I wish my head felt a little better to enjoy it more!)

Oh, and speaking of 60..... don't forget - when I hit 60 followers, I'll be doing a fun giveaway of Dell Pennypress puzzle books!  Your choice of crosswords, suduko, or variety puzzles.  Leave me a comment, and when we get to 60 a winner will be chosen at random!

My apologies for not being a better blogger this week!
Happy St. Patrick's Day & Happy Spring!!  And of course, Happy Reading!
