Okay, so last night I stayed up until almost 2 a.m. to finish reading Envy, the work of genius by Anna Godbersen. This is the third book in her Luxe series.
Manhattan, 1900.... it doesn't get any better. There are society balls, expensive gowns, servants, and SCANDAL! I love getting deeper and deeper into the story and the characters. I love the series concept (in any genre), which allows you to learn more about the regular players. The more you read, the more you either love or hate them.
I find it very hard to review specific books in a series because I certainly don't want to give anything away (spoiler!). And, in this series in particular, I think you definitely need to read the first book The Luxe first. You know, sometimes with a series you can get away with starting in the middle. Not so here.
But anyway, I can and will give you my opinion without spoiling anything for those of you who have yet to read this.
I love it, I love it, I love it!! I was rooting for the underdog and wishing that the witch would get what was coming to her!
I did feel that it ended kind of abruptly, but that didn't bother me too much because I know that when I start Splendor, the last book in the series, it will pick up right where Envy left off! Unfortunately, I won't be starting Splendor right away. You'll know when I do, though, because I probably won't be able to shut up about it!
I'm not going to keep rambling on about it. From my previous posts, you know how I feel. :)
So, the bottom line:
my gut reaction: see above*** where I say " I love it, I love it, I love it!"
my sleep-loss meter: 5 under-eye bags! Obviously, I already stated that I stayed up until 2 a.m. to finish this! I swear, you can't put it down! You will need lots and lots of coffee the following morning.

Woo-hoo!! We did it!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
So, now that we've done it, let's have a party and give away some goodies!!!
In honor of the big 6-0, I'll be giving one lucky winner a set of 6 puzzle books. Brand new from Dell / Pennypress. It will be your choice of crossword puzzles, suduko, or variety puzzles. Or, if you're feeling really crazy, you can do a combination of whichever ones you want! You can check out my original post here.
If you'd like to be in the running for the random drawing, please leave me a comment with your preference of books. The drawing will be held on Sunday, March 21st!
Good luck, thanks for participating, and most of all... thank you for supporting my humble little blog!
