Just a quickie...
I am halfway through Ship of Dreams by Martina Devlin... review coming soon.
If there is one thing I love more than turn of the century New York City, it is anything Titanic! This book fits the bill in both ways! It is about survivors of the Titanic who take up residence in NYC in 1912.
So far, I am thrilled.
Stay tuned for the review....

Anything Can Happen Thursday... Do You Participate In Challenges???
So many challenges! So little time!
Historical challenge, classics challenge, mystery challenge, paranormal challenge, YA challenge.... yada, yada, yada.
I have not (yet) participated in any challenges. I have no plans to. I am still a babe in the woods when it comes to this whole blogging thing. I see that everyone has their own style, which I love! But there is one thing I see on just about every blog I follow.... and that is "the challenge". There are all kinds of them (as shown above), and that's not even 1/2 of them.
Please don't get me wrong... I am NOT criticizing or judging anyone who participates. I just feel that it is not for me. I feel like I have so much on my plate as it is, and to add to it with a reading challenge would probably put me over the edge! LOL.
Reading is a fun escape for me. I'm afraid that if I commit to a challenge it will turn into a chore! I love the end of the day when it is time for everyone to wind down, take a shower, get into pajamas, and call it a day. I love it because I know that when I pull the covers back and get into the most comfy bed in the world (just ask my 10 year-old!), I'm ending my day with a few pages read. That is my escape. And also my Ambien. It relaxes me and calms me down.
I don't ever want it to feel like, "ugh! Now I've got to go read that stupid book so I can complete that stupid challenge!". Ya know? I mean, I know you don't have to participate in anything you don't want to. It's your choice, totally! And there are some (like the cozy mystery challenge) that would interest me. But I don't want to force myself to read something if I'd rather be reading something else.... (there's only so much time...).
This is only my opinion! I love all my new bloggy friends, and learning all these new bloggy things! I love the memes, the reviews, everything. I just don't think the "challenge" is for me.
Do you participate in challenges? Why or why not? I'd love to hear everyone else's thoughts on this subject.
