Let's Talk About.... Body Movers by Stephanie Bond

Body Movers by Stephanie Bond.  What a hoot!  I really like this series... I would go so far as to say it is one of my favorites.  Which is unusual for me because there is some romance in it, and I tend to shy away from romance.

Body Movers
Carlotta Wren grew up with a silver spoon in her mouth.  But ever since her ultra rich parents jumped bail on a white collar crime, she is left with nothing but the designer clothes on her back.

Carlotta is left to take care of her younger brother Wesley, who has a penchant for being on the wrong side of the law.  When he is arrested for hacking into courthouse computers, he finds he is unable to pay his loan sharks and needs a way to make some quick cash.

Enter the body-moving gig.  Wesley snags a job with the coroner's office removing bodies from crime scenes.  Turns out his first assignment is to transport the corpse of Carlotta's former fiance's wife who is found floating in their swimming pool.

With Carlotta as the main suspect, things start heating up with the cop who arrested Wesley and who has now re-opened her parents' case.  All while she is starting to fall for Wesley's body-moving boss!

This series combines a great mystery with a little bit of romance.  On the cover it is touted as "A Sexy Mystery", which is definitely how I would describe it.  And with Carlotta working in Neiman Marcus, it has that Carrie Bradshaw Jimmy Choo twist to it.  It is laugh out loud funny, the sex and romance isn't too over the top (I hate that), and the mystery keeps you guessing.

There are currently 6 installments in the Body Movers series, and while the sixth book could have definitely wrapped it up for good, it also left just enough hanging for the possibility of a seventh.  Fingers crossed on that one!

Bottom Line: Great series if you like chick-lit with a suspenseful twist.  There are some sex scenes (which typically are not present in cozy mysteries), but it doesn't get too gritty too often.  For the most part, it is a funny and light read.
And, yes... you definitely need to read these in numerical order.
