I'm Goin' To Atlantic City, Baby!

As I've already told you, I have recently become an independent contractor with the website BzzAgent.  I get to sample new products, and receive coupons.

I also get to participate in BzzCampaigns, where I get to try a product or service, and then give my honest opinion about said product or service.

Well, I'm excited because I was offered a BzzCampaign to head to Atlantic City and stay at Harrah's Casino and Resort with a guest!  Normally, an overnight stay in one of these places can cost in the hundreds!

So, on Wednesday morning, my sister and I are heading down the coast for an overnight "girls' getaway"!  All I have to do when I come home is report on the service, the hotel, the restaurant where we eat, etc.!  I'll be posting a review of my experience on Thursday!  I'm looking forward to a little getaway, and just between you & me.... I can't wait to hit the slot machines!  Cha-ching... cha-ching!!!!

Review: Motherhood Is Murder... A Maternal Instincts Mystery by Diana Orgain

Motherhood is Murder (A Maternal Instincts Mystery)Motherhood Is Murder by Diana Orgain is the second in her fun Maternal Instincts Mystery series!  In the first installment, Bundle of Trouble we were introduced to Kate Connolly who just had her first baby.  Kate is trying desperately to be able to stay home with her little sugar plum and not return to the corporate jungle.  After her husband Jim becomes entangled in a murder, Kate thinks she can make a go of it with a fledgling P.I. career.

Motherhood Is Murder was a great follow-up to Bundle Of Trouble.  Kate is really starting to get the hang of this motherhood gig, and she lands her first real client after one of the mommies in her "Roo & You" mommy and baby club takes a fatal spill down a flight of stairs on a dinner cruise.
With baby Laurie in tow, Kate goes about investigating each of the moms and dads in their group to find out who had the motive and the means.  Things really heat up when the local midwife that the moms use is poisoned.

I could really relate to Kate's insecurities as a new mom.  She worries over all the things that new mommies everywhere worry about.  She puts her hand on Laurie's tummy to make sure she's still breathing.  She worries over being able to pump enough breast milk to feed Laurie while she's away from her.  And she'll do anything to make her career as a private investigator work so she doesn't have to go back to work and leave her little pumpkin pie alone all day!

I found myself laughing out loud at some of Kate's antics, remembering what it was like to be a brand new mommy myself.  And Kate's "to-do" lists, which started many of the chapters were really funny as well.  She's always pushing herself to get these things done but somehow always manages to leave atleast two tasks undone.

I think any mom would find the Maternal Instincts mysteries enjoyable, if not for the mystery, atleast for the comraderie of knowing that moms everywhere struggle with many of the same issues.  We're all trying to do our best and juggle eighteen different things at once.... it's nice to know you're not alone.

I'm looking forward to the next installment.  I really like Kate.  She is believable, funny and real.  The mystery itself is lighthearted and classicly cozy.  There is no explicit sex, language, or blood & guts gore.
