My Reading Habits

I found this "survey" over at Undercover Book Lover and thought it a cute idea.

These are my reading habits:

Do you snack while you read? If so, favourite reading snack:

Sometimes, but it has to be something I can eat with one hand, like pretzels.

What is your favourite drink while reading?

Almost always a cup of tea - English Breakfast if you please.  But in the summer, I love a big tall glass of ICED tea!

Do you tend to mark your books as you read, or does the idea of writing in books horrify you?

No, I do not mark my books.  As a matter of fact, I try not to bend the spine too much so when I'm done reading it, it looks like new, or almost new.

How do you keep your place while reading a book? Bookmark? Dog-ears? Laying the book flat open?

Bookmark, always!  Dog-ears? - no... because then it looks like someone read the book (see question above).  Lay flat? - no... because that will crease the spine and then it looks like someone read the book (again, see question above)

Fiction, non-fiction, or both?

Fiction mostly but sometimes non.

Are you a person who tends to read to the end of a chapter, or can you stop anywhere?

I need to read the end of the chapter.  Of course then I can't wait to find out what happens in the next chapter, so I have to keep reading and reading and reading and..........

Are you the type of person to throw a book across the room or on the floor if the author irritates you?

Nooooo..... can't throw a book!  It will get marked and then it will look like someone read it. :)

If you come across an unfamiliar word, do you stop and look it up right away?

No, I'm pretty good at vocabulary and English and can usually figure it out from reading the sentence.

What are you currently reading?

A Timely Vision by Jim and Joyce Lavene

What is the last book you bought?

Sprinkle With Murder by Jenn McKinlay

Are you the type of person that reads one book at a time, or can you read more than one?

I can read more than one and often do.  But I would prefer to do one at a time.

Do you have a favourite time/place to read?

In my bed at night, and also in the tub.

Do you prefer series books or stand alones?

Series for mysteries.  General fiction, not so much.

Is there a specific book or author you find yourself recommending over and over?

I ALWAYS recommend Elizabeth Berg, and Ann Tyler.  I have been recommending New York: The Novel by Edward Rutherfurd a lot recently.

How do you organize your books? (by genre, title, author's last name, etc.)

By genre - I only own mystery and general fiction.  Then, by author's last name.  So my shelves have all my mysteries by authors' last names, and then fiction by authors' last names.
