Boy am I glad it's FRIDAY!! Yeehaw! I've been waiting for this moment all week long! Now it's here, and big deal!! I'm having a really crummy week!
I spoke with my son's guidance counselor this week and it looks like he has to go to summer school for Earth Science! :( Not that this is a huge surprise, of course... I just thought he might get lucky and be able to pull it off in these last couple of weeks.
Don't get me wrong.... it's his own doing that he didn't study enough all year long. He had the chance and blew it. But now I am responsible for getting him there and home every day (except Fridays)! There is no bus service over the summer, and it's too far for him to ride his bike. Ugh!
So from July 6th until August 18th when he takes the Earth Science Regents, I'll be shuttling back & forth. Curses.
I also had bad news this week about a girlfriend I went to high school with. She found out she has stage IV colon cancer. I was floored by this devastating news. You don't usually hear about that kind of cancer in a 38 year-old woman.
So, everyone is rallying around her and sending prayers and thoughts her way. It's just deeply saddening. She has two little girls and will be going through chemo, etc.
So my week has been less than fabulous, and my head is swimming with all this information and news, etc.! Needless to say I haven't had any time, nor desire to pick up a book and read. I just couldn't concentrate on anything I was reading... reading the same sentence over and over again.
I'm hoping that with the weekend comes a little bit of peace and quiet, and I'll be able to put out my lounge chair and relax for a while. I feel anxious and like I could climb the walls. :(

Anyway, today is our weekly Boog Blogger Hop! I hope you will find a moment to read some new-to-you blogs out there and make some recommendations to others.
The book blogging community is a great one to be a part of, and I marvel every day at the new friends I've made here!
Hopefully in the next few days I'll have some better "bookish" type things to say.
In the meantime, I hope everyone has a great holiday weekend... wave your American flags proudly at all those Memorial Day parades, and thank a vet! It is because of them that we have the freedom to read all the wonderful and glorious books that we have to read!
