In other news, I am so excited because tonight I am going to see TRAIN in concert with JOHN MAYER!  I can't wait!  I haven't been to a concert in 10 years... and the last concert I went to just happened to be.... TRAIN!

They're playing at Bethel Woods which is the former site of the huge WOODSTOCK festival back in '69!  Back then, this site was a 600 acre dairy farm owned by Max Yasgur.  It was attended by over 500,000 people, and caused chaos and traffic jams all over lower New York.  They even had to shut down the NYS Thruway!

With this many people attending, coordinators were expecting violence, looting, and riot.  Instead, the Woodstock festival would go down in history as one of the biggest love and peace fests ever.  With that many people in attendance, there were only 2 fatalities recorded - one from a heroin overdose, and one from an accident when a tractor ran over someone sleeping in a field.  (not bad for a half-million person concert!)

Some of the musical acts included Richie Havens, Janis Joplin, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Joe Cocker, Sly & The Family Stone, The Who, The Grateful Dead, and Blood, Sweat & Tears.

Today the site of the concert, plus 1,400 surrounding acres is dedicated to Bethel Woods Center For The Arts, which includes a museum that boasts displays and artifacts from the festival in 1969.

So, tonight I am looking forward to seeing the original Woodstock site, and of course seeing and hearing one of my favorite musical bands ever. :)  Woo-hoo!
