Even though it's usually a mistake (grin).... do movies made from books make you want to read the original?
Ummm, I would have to say..... No! But it depends what the movie is. For example, when I first started seeing commercials for Eat, Pray, Love coming to theatres, I shuddered. Then when I saw Julia Roberts was the star, I threw up in my mouth a little.
I just had no desire to see the movie, and I've never had a desire to read the book. Period, end of report (my mom used to say that and it drove me nuts. Now I say it to my kids. But, I digress).
Really, almost entirely.... I usually read the book first. Then, I don't want to see the movie, because I know that the picture I have in my head is going to get totally screwed up by the picture the directors have in their heads. It never meets my expectations.
So I will stick to the books. It's more enjoyable to me, and it's a whole lot cheaper.
