And The Winner Is....

Hello everyone!  A happy Monday evening to you all!

I started my new job today, and as first days go... it went pretty well!  Settling into a new routine will take some getting used to, but I have a good feeling and high hopes!

So!  Anyway....

Blogfest 2010 is all done.... what a great success and how much fun that was!

Thanks again to all who participated and entered my giveaway...

I can't wait 'til Blogfest 2011!

We have a winner for the Rebecca York and Hidden Secrets Book Cover giveaway....

And the winner is..... Carol L!

I have sent an e-mail to the winner and she has 48 hours to respond with her mailing address.  If she does not respond by 8:00 pm Eastern time (New York), then another name will be drawn!

Thank you everyone for your continued support, and thanks so much for helping to celebrate and have an awesome BlogFest!

New Beginnings.... (written Sunday afternoon, to post at midnight)

Today (it's actually Sunday afternoon) is kinda cool, drizzly... like a chill is in the air.... and Fall is right around the corner.  To me, Fall has always meant the start of new things:  school, getting ready for a new season of cool weather - putting the comforters back on the beds, apple picking (and applesauce making!), hearty meals that make the house smell soooo good!  It really is my favorite season of all!

This year, I truly am embarking on a new beginning of sorts.   The kids are back in school, we're back in the swing of things with a morning routine, etc.  And bright & early on Monday morning I am starting a new job!  A week and a half ago I submitted a resume for a part-time clerical position in the village hall.  I was called for an interview, and three days later got called to start on Monday, September 13th.

I'm still in a state of shock that I was able to put together a halfway decent and competent resume, since I've been a stay-at-home mom for the past 15 years!  I did work very briefly in the high school cafeteria, but my father-in-law got very ill and I quit to be one of his primary caregivers.  So, really... I haven't been out in the workforce since 1995 when I went out on maternity leave with my oldest son.... and never went back!  Back then, I worked in a bank... when it was still "bankers' hours".  Everyone asked why wouldn't I want to go back to banking.  Uh, because now banks are open like 7 days a week, and I think I need to ease myself back into the job world.  Plus, now I have a family.  I don't want to work 40 hours a week (yet!)  I think they need to ease into the idea of me working!  So for now, I will stick to this new part-time position (that has the potential of turning into full-time, as I was told at my interview).  I'll be working Monday thru Friday 8:30am - 12:30pm.... just enough to get myself acclimated to being a working woman!

So, wish me luck as I head out on Monday morning....  hopefully looking (and feeling) confident and ready!   And not like the photo to the right!

Now onto other new beginnings...

First, I would like to say a huge a THANK YOU to author REBECCA YORK for contributing a guest post on A Cup of Tea for BLOGFEST 2010!   This celebration was a humongous success and I would also like to thank Cinnamon at A Journey of Books for putting the whole thing together!  I can't believe how many new blogs I found to follow, and how many new followers found me!  I'm truly thankful for all of my friends out there in the blogosphere.  I am having the time of my life with A Cup of Tea and a Cozy For Me, so thank you to all who took the time to take a gander at my blog, and for all of my followers - old & new!  I feel great things in the works for A Cup of Tea!

That being said, I also want to thank all of those who entered my fab giveaway of Rebecca York's Dragon Moon + the beautiful quilted fabric bookcover from Hidden Secrets Book Covers!   There were well over 300 entries!  That is incredible!  And the winner will be chosen at random and posted on Monday, September 13th, probably in the evening hours, since I'll now be a working girl, and will have to pencil "blogging time" into my new schedule!  I will e-mail the winner and he/she will have 48 hours to reply with their mailing address.

I would also like to tell you all about my new blog layout!  I feel like I just got things all changed around and set to my liking, and then, when I logged on on Saturday morning.... everything was a disaster!  More than one person commented that all they could see was a whole bunch of photobucket boxes stating that the image was no longer available!  I was like, "HUH???"  So sure enough when I went to the site that was hosting my template and layout, she had a big announcement that stated that photobucket was no longer hosting her templates and users needed to update their blogs with a patch or some kind of riggermarole!

I sat here for a very large portion of Saturday afternoon trying to fix things, and finally said "screw it!  Let's go with something new!"  So what you see is the result of a lot of pissing & moaning on my part because I really liked the other layout & template that I had going on.  But, now that I have this lovely new gig, I really love, love, love the way it came out!  There are some new features I added that I hope will be more user friendly.... more than one person asked for an e-mail subscription thingy (don't you just love all my technical jargon?  I'm hopeless!), so I incorporated that, and also now have networked blogs, and twitter buttons for followers!  Woohoo! (Although I admit, I still don't have a handle on the twitter thing.  I don't even know if I'm doing it right!)  I feel like this little hobby of mine is really taking shape, and I hope the changes will be well-received in the blogosphere!

So you see, Fall really is a season of new beginnings, and new hopes!

My son asked if we could have a "celebration" dinner tonight (Sunday night) to celebrate the beginning of school, and of course the beginning of my new job!  I said absolutely... let's celebrate!  So, my brownies are cooling on the stove as we speak;  and Logan chose meatloaf, rice-a-roni, corn, and dinner rolls for our supper.  Sounds great!  A real "fall into Fall" stick-to-your-ribs kind of meal that everyone loves! <3

And tonight, when I'm reminding everyone that it's a school night and we need to take showers, and get to bed.... I'll be very grateful for my new beginning, as Logan will get so much joy out of telling me, "Mom, it's a work night... you need to take a shower and get to bed!"
