Pajama Party Friday!

Hi everyone!  TGIF!  And I mean that sincerely....

I love Friday... it is my favorite day of the week.  For sooo many reasons.  Let me count the ways.....

1. Friday means the weekend is here!  Woohoo!  It's just such a happy thought... I love it!

2. Friday night usually means pizza at our house!  If it's not pizza, it's something equally as yummy and take-outish (is that a word?  I don't think so) like Chinese food, or heroes.

3. Friday nights in Spring & Summer mean Yankee games.  Which means we're most likely sitting in front of the TV with our yummy food of choice and an ice cold beer.

4. Friday night means we're free of all the responsibility of a school night: homework, studying, reading (for school), forms signed, showers and bed by a certain time.... you get the picture.

In any case, on most Friday nights, you will find me doing absolutely nothing, and totally enjoying it!

In the Fall & Winter, I have what I call my "Pajama Friday".  It means I'm done for the day and in pajamas by around 4 p.m.
It doesn't happen every Friday.  I would like it to.  But it doesn't.  When it does happen, food is ordered early, the kids are either being picked up to go somewhere, or their friends are getting a ride to our house.  It means my face is washed of all makeup, I'm in a hot bath by nightfall, and I'm in bed early.  It is the night when I catch up on all of my reading materials.  Any magazines or catalogs that came in the mail that week, are perused on Pajama Friday.  Crossword puzzles are completed on Pajama Friday.  New books are started on Pajama Friday.
It is just my day!  Pajama Fridays make me so happy!

Now don't get me wrong... I am pleased as punch that Spring is literally sneaking right up on us.  It is still light out at 7:00 in the evening.  Opening day at Yankee Stadium is in 14 days.

I mean, I can still participate in Pajama Friday in the Spring & Summer.  It would just be done in a different manner.  I'll probably be in the backyard in my lounge chair instead of in my bed all snuggled in.  Or, the TV will be on in the background because the Yankees are playing.  So it's not really the same.  But I enjoy it nonetheless, because it is still Friday night.  Which means I don't have to work in the morning, the kids don't have to get up for school, and our immediate responsibilities are pretty much nil.

Do you have any rituals you look forward to on the weekends?  Or do you just let each day come as it may?  Do you "plan" your downtime?  Or do you just wing it and hope you'll get some "me" time?
