I Can't Believe I'm A Convert..... I Love My E-Reader!

Here we go....

A while back, I tried the Kindle.  Blagh.  Hated it.  I wanted so badly to like it.  So badly.  But I didn't.

I love the feel of the book in my hands.  I love to gaze longingly at the pretty cover.  I love to see how much of the book I've read, and how much more I have to go.

Let's face it:  I LOVE MY BOOKS!

But guess what?  I got an iPad for Christmas.  It was love at first sight.  There isn't much this little fella can't do.  I learn more and more about it every day.

I downloaded the Kindle App, ya know.... just for fun.  I already knew I didn't like the Kindle.  So, why bother?  I guess 'cause the App was free, and there are some pretty good e-books out there for free.  I figured, "why not?"

OMG!!!  I LOVE MY KINDLE APP ON MY IPAD!

I know, right?  Who'da thunk it?

It is addictive.  I could shop in the Kindle store for hours and hours.

I love that I can read on my iPad at night without the light on... lots of times my husband turns the TV off and I am still reading.  Now I don't need the reading lamp on.

I love that I have a bazillion (okay, maybe not that many) books at my fingertips at all times!

I love that this thing-a-majig fits in my purse, and I am literally carrying dozens and dozens of books! (Can't wait to travel with it, but since we never go anywhere, it'll be awhile....) Along with hundreds of other Apps that I am loving to pieces.

That's what I find the most appealing with the iPad.... it is definitely a multi-tasker, where I think the Kindle is really more for just reading.  It is truly phenomenal.

Maybe I didn't give that Kindle enough of a chance?  I don't know.  I thought I would miss holding that lovely book with all of it's papery goodness in my hands.

And I haven't turned my back on print books altogether.  I still love them!  And there are many books not available in "e-" form.  But I have to say, the convenience of the e-reader is just too much to take!  There's no denying it.
Think of the e-reader as the "cupcake" of books.  You love books, but the e-reader is convenient.  That doesn't mean you are going to give up books altogether.  Cake is delicious!  But the cupcake is just a little more convenient... it's smaller, you can eat it on the go.... what's not to love?  But you can't tell me you're never gonna eat a regular piece of cake again.

Point made.
